Happy Birthday to Joy in the Word

folder_openHappy birthday

This week is Joy in the Word’s first birthday. How amazing! Yes, the very first Joy in the Word article was posted on 22 April, one year ago. Over the past year I’ve written and posted 77 articles. This includes 6 months of writing 2 per week and 6 months of 1 per week. I’m still not quite sure how I did it! And the journey is ongoing. There’s much more to come.

But first, I want to take this opportunity to thank you, as a reader and supporter of Joy in the Word, for joining me on this amazing journey. I thoroughly enjoy sharing God’s Word with you!

Forming seed

Joy in the Word began as a place I could record and share exciting insights from God’s Word. As you are probably aware, I love digging into Scripture. God’s Word has tremendous weight and power, simply because it’s God’s Word. My primary aim is to open up God’s Word, point out some of the amazing things I find, and suggest some relevant connecting points for our lives today.

When I first started, God showed me that what I was doing was forming seed. Since then, whether it is Joy in the Word blog posts, devotions for Elim’s 21 Days of Prayer, or other resources, I have been simply forming seed. And just as in the parable of the sower (Luke 8:4-15), I know God has been sowing this seed when and where He wants.

During the last year I added a Joy in the Word Facebook page and a Youtube channel. How much these will be utilised in the future remains to be seen.

Much more to come!

Coincidentally, I decided to take this birthday week off in order to begin writing a book! This book will be based on posts I wrote earlier this year on Joshua chapters 1-5. These chapters follow Israel’s journey as they cross the Jordan River into the promised land. They also contain key themes that will help each of us navigate our own transition into the new era of today. This project is both exciting and challenging! And at this point, I have no idea how it will all pan out. So watch this space.

As it’s Easter..

As it’s Easter, I decided to re-share my very first two Joy in the Word posts. These posts relate to the original Easter story of the Old Testament (the Passover in Egypt). The posts then trace Passover celebrations through the rest of Scripture. It’s incredibly interesting to see how much each Passover celebration foreshadows all that Jesus Christ has done for us! Just click on the links below. And have an amazing week.
